This new BluePump is located in the Community of Kafuta Tombung. This community received some 15 years agon 3 wells with VLOM pumps. However, soon the repairs became more frequent and one pump after the other was abandoned due to the high cost of repairs that could go up to 300 Euro each time. Sometimes the pump only lasted only a few month after a costly repair.
When they learned about the durable BluePump, they put all the savings together and bought a BluePump with the local dealer Swe-Gam in Bandjul. Swe-Gam installed the BluePump in one of the three wells and since that time the families are more convident about their future.
During the FairWater/Sanex mission in March 2011 to prepare the Sanex sponsored action "Clean water here & Clean water there" with the environmental friendly showergel Sanex Zer% to replace abandoned handpumps in Gambia, this village was visited and to reward their perseverence, it was selected to receive the first Sanex sponsored BluePump.
